Another of the phishing mails!!!

If you get a mail like this purportedly from gmail, be careful. It may not be from Google.

One way to test the genuinity may be to test with a false email and password. Such sites will just say "thank you for updating", as after all they can't confirm the account details. Always be sure to check web URL to see it is genuine and also the https part.
The phishing mail is as given below:

Windows Malware Remover

Many times when you instal freeware, a lot of malware gets installed inadvertently like adware, toolbars, browser hijackers and other potentially unwanted programs (pups), resulting in system slowdown and other breach in privacy.
Adwcleaner is a good freeware, for removing these unwanted programs and clean your system, which is very small and can work on downloading and double clicking without the necessity of installing it.

A Unique cloud storage - COPY

There are many popular cloud storage and syncing services like Dropbox, Skydrive etc. Now Barracuda Networks offers a new service called copy. It is unique and different from others mainly on these aspects.

1. In many other services like dropbox you can sync files kept in the main folder created by the service and sub folders therein. You necessarily have to change the file organization to suit this. However, in  copy you can make shortcut of any folder in your desktop/ laptop inside copy's main folder and they also get synced.

2. The folders you share with others gets its storage space shared equally by all the shared users, unlike in others where all users have the whole space taken from their storage.

3. Right now copy gives free 15 GB storage to those who sign in now. Also any referrals adds 5 GB to both the person who refers a friend as well as the person who is being referred.

2. Find:
Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS
3. Set it to 'Disabled'.

However in the updated new page apps go to Bookmarks bar at the extreme left position and recently closed and pages opened in other devices are available in Chrome Menu - Recent Tabs

The old fashioned file explorer for iPad

If you don't like the hassle of going through the Apple's infamous ways of handling files using iTunes, here is an easy way. For us who are more accustomed to the free access to files and folders through an explorer interface, iTunes gets a bit to accustomed to. iTunes also does not give full access to the file system.

But using ifunbox provides us the answer. After installing this on Windows, you can directly access the file system in iPad without jailbreaking. It has a companion app called iFileExpress.

Here's a better alternative: DiskAid, a PC or Mac program (with a fellow ios app, FileApp, which may be used if more features are needed).

Download Managers - FreeDownloadManager

We have been using many download managers to assist in dowloading files from the net. Benefits include, faster and resumable downloads. Here is a useful , portable and opensource download manager.

Needless to say that using portable applications help in maintaining the integrity of Windows, which tend to become corrupt and bloated the more you instal applications.

The Free Download Manager is in their own words: "It is a powerful, easy-to-use and absolutely free download accelerator and manager. Moreover, FDM is 100% safeopen-source software distributed under GPL license."
It also supports downloading of torrents and flash videos. In spite of being portable, it integrates well with the common browsers and clipboard monitoring.

Download the portable version here from portableapps.com.
